Texas Music - dance halls and clubs

This is one fun and unusual tour no other tour service or guide offers.

The Austin - San Antonio corridor is one of the hottest spots in the country for live music.  Austin has long been known for the 6th street music scene.  But much of that scene has moved south to San Marcos and New Braunfels.   Song writers and performers are moving to this area from all over the country.

On  any given night you can go to a number of clubs and hear great music ranging from big stars like Willie Nelson too impressive new talent that will be the next big stars.

This tour goes to places like Gruene Hall - the oldest dance hall in Texas, Cheatham Street Warehouse - where Stevie Ray Vahn, George Strait and Terri Hendrix started out, The River Road Ice House, Tavern in the Gruene, Riley's Tavern - the oldest bar in Texas, Saengerhalle and other legendary spots in the music scene.  Some of these places are old Texas dance halls the locals have been going to for generations.  Others are geared for listening.

Most of the music is Texas style Americana and classic western, but there is often Zydeco, Blues, Texas Swing, Soul,  Folk,  Mexican Cajunto, Rock and others.  It all depends on who is playing on a given night.

We usually hit the best two or three joints with the best acts in one night.

Learn to two step and waltz on a well worn dance floor.  Hang out and have a cold one with the locals.

We usually start out in the afternoon and take in dinner somewhere before hitting the clubs.  Where we go depends on who is playing and where.  On Weekends in the summer we can even go hear great music in the afternoon after a lunch.

The one bad thing about this trip is that I have to drive, so I can't drink.

If you want to hear Texas as well see it this is the tour you want.
